Job Description

The Breakfast Attendant/Houseperson position at Ruby Hotel Ponderay is an onsite role in Ponderay, ID, supporting guest breakfast service and completing assigned cleaning duties in common areas. The schedule begins at 7:30 am, with breakfast service running for guests in the morning.

Key Responsibilities

Provide breakfast service from 6:00 to 9:30am for guests.
Restock breakfast items during breakfast hours as needed.
Prepare and refresh breakfast ingredients, including making additional waffle batter mix when needed.
Collect and transport trays by taking the breakfast sign and the rolling cart into the breakfast room.
After waffle irons are no longer in use: turn off, put batter away, and ice blocks in the freezer.
Once irons have cooled, clean them gently using the provided brush or a clean rag.
Manage the juice machine: turn it off, replace juice if needed, and complete the weekly deep-clean process following the directions.
Take the juice machine tray for cleaning.
Clean the juice machine area, including the front, sides, and underneath where juice is dispensed.
Refill syrup containers from dining tables as needed and leave containers to go empty near the end of the month so they can be cleaned and sanitized.
Stock prepared items including bagels, English muffins, muffins, and pastries.
Take trays and tongs for cleaning and wipe under the bread case if needed, with strict instruction to NO CRUMBS!
Clean out the toaster bottom tray and shake out crumbs.
Refill supplies if needed, including jelly/jam, peanut butter, oatmeal, cereal, forks, spoons, knives, condiments, plates, bowls, cups, and napkins.
Refill the fridge with sandwiches, burritos, eggs, yogurt variety, and milk, then lock up.
Ensure all refrigeration areas are kept clean, including: ALL FRIDGES AND FREEZER NEED TO HAVE CLEAN SHELVES, DRAWERS, AND GRAB HANDLES!
Use items in order based on labeling sequence (1-10) or received dates. PAY ATTENTION TO DATES!!
Follow item handling rules: Juice thaw time is 12 hours; do not put items into the second fridge until items in the juice machine are close to empty.
Respect shelf life and storage: Pastries only have a 5-day shelf life; burritos need to stay frozen. Do not thaw pastries until current ones are used.
Maintain daily breakfast room cleanliness through sweeping and mopping every day, including between tables and under chairs.
Maintain coffee and dining areas by wiping down counter tops and dining tables, including those in the coffee room, cleaning the microwave if needed, and refilling water.
Check shelves for crumbs and wipe down if needed.
Follow fridge usage order: use items in the 1 fridge closest to the door first (top shelf first), then move to the second fridge (top shelf first, or items prepped and ready first).
Keep furnace and fridge rooms clear: do not leave garbage, empty boxes, or rags in the Furnace room or Fridge room, and do not leave cleaner/chemicals in those rooms.
Complete additional cleaning including: cleaning dryer vents in the laundry room; mopping in the laundry room if needed (spot mopping is acceptable); and sweeping and mopping the lobby and entryway.
Vacuum rugs/mats and vacuum hallways, stairways, annexes, and areas in-between the annex to the fitness/pool area.
Check and clean bathrooms including pool, employee, lobby bathrooms; clean toilet lid, seat, rim, bowl, and bottom; wipe down sink counter and inside the sink; and refill paper towels, toilet paper, and hand soap when supply is low.
Wipe down mirrors and commonly touched surfaces, mop when needed, and remove garbage from lobby, bathrooms, fitness, pool, patio, and guest laundry.
Check walls around garbage cans, wipe and clean handrails and windowsills, clean glass on door windows, kickplates, and door handles throughout the hotel, and vacuum office areas if open and empty.
Additional duties may include helping with laundry work and/or cedar cleaning on weekends, supporting housekeepers during busy seasons (strip rooms, stock carts, take trash as needed), performing extra dusting (blinds, window tracks, wood partitions/dividers, dust inside lights down the hallways and around the hotel), and cleaning at other locations if requested.
