Job Description

Prairie Hotel in Yelm, WA is hiring a Housekeeping Manager for an onsite, part-time role. In this position, you help keep the property clean, orderly, and ready for guests by completing routine room service and heavier cleaning tasks.

The work includes maintaining high standards across floors, windows, carpets, and furniture, while following established procedures for cleaning chemicals and equipment to protect surfaces and fixtures.

Compensation and Schedule

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Job type: Part-time
Work location: In person (onsite)

What You’ll Do

Service, clean, or supply hotel rooms
Gather and empty trash
Clean hotel floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
Notify managers when major repairs or additions are needed for building operating systems
Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning
Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees
Steam clean or shampoo carpets
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment
Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies for cleaning

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Experience: One year related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum 1 year)
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to print and speak simple sentences
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers
Ability to multiply and divide with 10’s
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to use an internet browser
Knowledge and skills such as time management, being detailed oriented, communication skills, ability to self-manage, and professionalism
Ability to use a timekeeping system

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Regularly required to walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear

Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles
Noise level is usually moderate
