Job Description

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Lynchburg Airport is seeking an Assistant General Manager to serve as the direct partner and backup to the General Manager. This onsite role in Lynchburg, VA supports seamless 24/7 hotel operations while helping teams across all departments run smoothly every day.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Directly supervise, lead, and train front desk staff in collaboration with the General Manager.
  • Build a positive work atmosphere that supports teamwork and collaboration.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and supervising hotel employees across all departments.
  • Lead staff meetings, safety meetings, and brand training sessions.
  • Work daily shifts at the front desk during slower periods or when Guest Service Agents are on breaks.

Operational leadership and guest-ready standards

  • Reconcile housekeeping reports, maintain room inventories, and compute timecards daily.
  • Complete Daily Business Reports, count money, make deposits, and manage payroll reporting when requested.
  • Promote consistent compliance by ensuring Daly Seven policies and franchise standards are documented, followed, and up to date.
  • Run and mail Direct Bill Statements weekly, ensuring payments are entered accurately upon receipt.

Revenue support and team development

  • Drive revenue in partnership with the Director of Sales by collaborating regularly and attending revenue calls.
  • Support group bookings and help manage group booking activity.
  • Encourage active participation in the Daly Detective Sales Lead Program among the front desk team.

Safety, incident response, and room inspections

  • Inspect 50% of guest rooms monthly (or 25% for larger properties) to confirm standards are met.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of emergency procedures, emergency cut-offs (gas, electric, water), and the location of emergency lights.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents on the premises, complete detailed incident reports, and monitor onsite safety measures.

What you bring

  • Minimum of a 2-year college degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
  • Prior hotel and leadership experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, bend, stoop, and regularly navigate stairs.
  • Schedule flexibility including nights, weekends, and holidays, typically 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
