Job Description

The Maintenance Engineer / Houseperson supports hotel operations by operating, maintaining, and repairing equipment, conducting preventative maintenance, and handling guest requests. This role blends engineering tasks with hands-on trades in a busy hotel environment, requiring professionalism and discretion in dealing with guests and sensitive areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the operation, upkeep, and repair of hotel equipment.
  • Replace light bulbs and perform preventative maintenance in guest rooms, including vinyl repairs, touch-up painting, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, and tile work.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry gear, HVAC systems, guestrooms, meeting spaces, the swimming pool, and the hot tub.
  • Handle plumbing repairs, laundry equipment maintenance, and preventative care on all exhaust and supply fans; monitor energy use; repair vacuums and other small equipment on request.
  • Immediately follow up on alarms to identify location and cause, determine emergency status, and report findings to the Front Desk.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor or manager.
  • Access back-of-house areas and handle sensitive information as part of daily duties.
  • Interact with guests and colleagues, occasionally without supervision.
  • Access and control sensitive areas in the hotel, including the Hotel Safe, Master Keys and guestrooms, Storage/Liquor Room, and secured file cabinets.
  • Drive safely on behalf of the company for business purposes.
  • Maintain a high level of trust and responsibility in all activities.
  • Represent the company with appropriate reputation and sound judgment while exercising discretion.

Job Duties and Functions

  • Provide assistance with the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Change out light bulbs and perform preventive maintenance in guest rooms, such as vinyl repairs, touch-up painting, minor furniture repairs, tub caulking, and tile work.
  • Execute preventive maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen and laundry equipment, HVAC systems, guestrooms, meeting rooms, as well as pool and spa facilities.
  • Carry out plumbing repairs, laundry equipment servicing, and preventative maintenance on exhaust and supply systems; monitor energy conservation; repair vacuums and other small devices on request.
  • Act promptly on alarms to locate the source, assess emergency status, and report findings to the Front Desk.
  • Accept additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
  • Maintain access to back-of-house areas and handle sensitive information.
  • Interact with guests and colleagues, sometimes without supervision.
  • Manage access to sensitive hotel areas, including the Hotel Safe, Master Keys, guestrooms, Storage/Liquor Room, and secured file cabinets.
  • Drive for company business and adhere to safe driving practices.
  • Hold a high level of trust and responsibility in daily functions.
  • Represent Rebel Hotel Company with professional conduct and sound judgment.
