Room Attendant
Job Description
Role at The H Hotel in Midland, MI (onsite): maintain guest rooms and corridors to ensure a clean, orderly hotel experience.
Responsibilities
- Clean, dust, wax, scrub, polish, and service guest rooms daily following hotel procedures
- Stock the room attendant cart with guest room supplies at the start of each shift
- Replace linens on beds and replenish guest room supplies
- Empties wastebaskets; empties and cleans ashtrays
- Rearrange furnishings, drapes, and room accessories to match the required arrangement
- Provide linen and amenities to guests according to the guest room legend
- Leave each guest room in the uniform arrangement set by the Executive Housekeeper; ensure the door is closed and the room is locked
- Report any damage, hazards, repairs, and strangers in assigned areas
- Return lost items found in guest rooms, hallways, or back of the house to Housekeeping as a Lost and Found item, including: date, where it was found, item description, and name of the person who found it
- Manage all keys signed out for the shift
- Clean corridors and service areas
- Respond to projects or requests from Housekeeping management team
- Replace light bulbs when necessary
- Restock the cart at the end of the shift and organize the linen closet for the next day
- Complete other housekeeping duties as assigned
- Greet guests (Good Morning, Good afternoon, or Good evening)
Requirements
- Less than high school education; or up to six months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words; recognize similarities/differences between words and between series of numbers
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow detailed but uninvolved instructions (written or oral)
- Ability to deal with problems in typical situations
- Must be able to speak English to communicate with guests
- Ability to recognize situations involving guests that require immediate supervisory attention
- Ability to use reasonable care for guest safety and security

- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel objects, tools, or controls
- Regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Regularly required to talk or hear
- Frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to climb or balance
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25-30 pounds
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Work Environment
- Occasionally works with cleaning fluids and solvents
- Operates hand tools including vacuum cleaners and carpet extractors
- Ability to reach 2 feet above your head (and similar overhead reach tasks)
- Noise level usually moderate
