Job Description

Role at The H Hotel in Midland, MI (onsite): maintain guest rooms and corridors to ensure a clean, orderly hotel experience.

Responsibilities

Clean, dust, wax, scrub, polish, and service guest rooms daily following hotel procedures
Stock the room attendant cart with guest room supplies at the start of each shift
Replace linens on beds and replenish guest room supplies
Empties wastebaskets; empties and cleans ashtrays
Rearrange furnishings, drapes, and room accessories to match the required arrangement
Provide linen and amenities to guests according to the guest room legend
Leave each guest room in the uniform arrangement set by the Executive Housekeeper; ensure the door is closed and the room is locked
Report any damage, hazards, repairs, and strangers in assigned areas
Return lost items found in guest rooms, hallways, or back of the house to Housekeeping as a Lost and Found item, including: date, where it was found, item description, and name of the person who found it
Manage all keys signed out for the shift
Clean corridors and service areas
Respond to projects or requests from Housekeeping management team
Replace light bulbs when necessary
Restock the cart at the end of the shift and organize the linen closet for the next day
Complete other housekeeping duties as assigned
Greet guests (Good Morning, Good afternoon, or Good evening)

Requirements

Less than high school education; or up to six months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words; recognize similarities/differences between words and between series of numbers
Ability to print and speak simple sentences
Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow detailed but uninvolved instructions (written or oral)
Ability to deal with problems in typical situations
Must be able to speak English to communicate with guests
Ability to recognize situations involving guests that require immediate supervisory attention
Ability to use reasonable care for guest safety and security

Work Environment

Operates hand tools including vacuum cleaners and carpet extractors

Overview

The Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and a polished appearance in the hotel’s public spaces, including back of house areas.

Essential Job Functions

Clean and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the hotel lobby, meeting space, public restrooms, and other public areas.
Clean and maintain the surrounding areas of the property, including the sidewalk, brass awning poles, signage, entrance, and alley.
Complete deep cleaning tasks for assigned areas, including shampooing rooms and public areas, window washing, cleaning hotel light fixtures, and cleaning guest elevators.
Clean and maintain back of house areas, including the employee break room, hotel laundry room, compactor area, and employee restroom.
Check inventory and replenish supplies and cleaning tools.
Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
Respond quickly to guest requests in a timely and friendly manner.
Follow procedures for entering and leaving guest rooms.
Return lost items found in guest rooms, hallways, or back of house locations to the Housekeeping department for lost and found.

Education and Experience

Job Description

The H Hotel in Midland, Michigan is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance of all hotel and restaurant equipment and systems on site. Reporting to the General Manager, this role manages mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paints, wall coverings, tile and other components typically handled by hotel maintenance staff, with day-to-day operational decision-making authority. Responsibilities
