Job Summary
A Room Attendant works independently or as part of a team to clean hotel rooms. Responsibilities include wiping down surfaces, cleaning windows, vacuuming, mopping, and emptying trash bins.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This job description does not include every task that may be required. Additional duties may be assigned by management as needed.
- Cleans guest rooms and guest areas, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, replenishing supplies, cleaning windows, mirrors, and patios.
- Cleans assigned guest rooms within the time period set by management, using required procedures and chemicals provided by management.
- Empties wastebaskets as needed.
- Uses provided chemicals according to directions, reviews material safety data sheets, and uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
- Follows procedures for protection against blood borne pathogens.
- Ensures rooms are completed and signed off within the required time frame.
- Maintains a stocked, organized, and clean housekeeping cart with sufficient supplies.
- Documents, secures, and turns in lost and found items in accordance with company policy.
- Practices safety procedures, including bending, lifting, and safe use of equipment.
- Follows safe procedures for protection against blood borne pathogens.
- Communicates with guests in a professional and friendly manner.
- Restocks the housekeeping cart at the end of the shift to keep supplies ready.
- Completes the required form as soon as possible if property damage is discovered or room inventory items are missing, then submits it to a manager.
- Provides regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience
- Level 1
- No prior experience or training
Language Skills
- Level 2
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations with customers, clients, and other employees.
Mathematical Skills
- Level 1
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight, volume, and distance measurements.
Reasoning Ability
- Level 2
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
