Housekeeper/Laundry Worker

The Housekeeper/Laundry Worker at Historic Blue Moon Hotel in New York, NY is responsible for keeping guest rooms, public spaces, and laundry facilities clean, sanitized, and presentable. This role supports a comfortable guest experience through routine housekeeping, safe chemical handling, and efficient laundry operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean guest rooms thoroughly, including dusting, vacuuming, bed making, and bathroom sanitation using appropriate cleaning equipment and chemical agents.
• Manage laundry operations efficiently by sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and towels according to hotel standards.
• Maintain public areas such as lobbies, hallways, elevators, and restrooms by completing regular cleaning routines.
• Follow safety data sheets (SDS) guidelines for the safe and responsible handling of chemical agents.
• Use janitorial equipment effectively for floor care tasks, including mopping, sweeping, buffing, and polishing to support consistently pristine conditions.
• Follow housekeeping management procedures to prioritize tasks and maintain consistent quality standards.
• Assist with heavy lifting when moving furniture or large laundry loads, applying proper manual handling techniques to help prevent injury.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in hotel housekeeping or custodial roles, including knowledge of sanitation practices.
• Strong skills in floor cleaning and floor care techniques using a range of cleaning equipment.
• Ability to handle chemical agents safely while staying compliant with safety data sheets (SDS).
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional attitude toward guests and team members.
• Familiarity with hotel emergency procedures and safety protocols to help ensure a secure environment.
• Proficiency in vacuuming, general cleaning tasks, and the use of janitorial supplies.
• Physical stamina for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks required during cleaning routines.
