Room Attendant - Housekeeper

Hotel Indigo Chicago-Vernon Hills is hiring a Room Attendant to keep guest rooms clean, comfortable, and aligned with established standards. In this onsite role in Vernon Hills, IL, you will focus on the details that support a smooth guest experience while working as part of the housekeeping team.

You will be responsible for maintaining rooms within scheduled timeframes, handling lost and found items, and supporting operational coverage during busy periods. The work also includes safe handling of cleaning chemicals and following MSDS and OSHA standards.

What you’ll do

• Greet guests with a warm and friendly greeting when you interact with them.
• Clean guest rooms according to hotel standards within the allotted time, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.
• Change bed linens and replace towels and other amenities.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures, including dusting furniture, walls, or equipment.
• Notify managers when repairs are needed in guest rooms.
• Process items left in rooms according to the lost and found policy.
• Follow safe work habits by wearing protective safety equipment and adhering to MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Support house person and lobby attendant duties when short staffed or during peak periods.
• Monitor and work toward improving guest satisfaction scores to support departmental and overall satisfaction.
• Ensure overall guest satisfaction through consistent room readiness.
• Complete other duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Previous housekeeping experience required or equivalent training.
• Ability to understand and communicate in English.

Schedule and physical requirements

• Work schedule varies and may include holidays and weekends.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform activities including walking, pushing and pulling, reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
• Use of cleaning chemicals is required.

Compensation and benefits

Salary: USD 16 - 16 per hour.
