Room Inspector
Job Description
Join Wilderness Hotel and Resort Inc in Sevierville, TN (onsite) as a Room Inspector and help keep our guest rooms clean, orderly, and ready for arrival. This role supports strong housekeeping standards through supervision, inspections, coaching, and follow-through on issues that affect comfort, safety, and room presentation. Enjoy a $16 per hour schedule, with regular responsibilities in a team-focused environment where guest communication and attention to detail matter.
What you’ll do
- Review and obtain the list of rooms to be cleaned immediately, including prospective check outs and stay overs.
- Ensure rooms are completed and signed off within the appropriate time frame.
- Inspect and evaluate Room Attendant work after they complete their room cleaning.
- Assign duties, carry out supervisory responsibilities according to organization policies and applicable laws, and help plan completion of work.
- Assist with training by teaching policies and work procedures, and coach Room Attendants on areas needing improvement by identifying tasks that were missed or not done properly.
- Communicate with guests in a professional and friendly manner.
- Ensure storage rooms and housekeeping carts are clean and organized.
- Periodically inventory supplies and equipment to support smooth housekeeping operations.
Safety, reporting, and quality control
- Use provided chemicals according to directions; become familiar with material safety data sheets and use PPE (personal protective equipment) as necessary.
- Practice safety procedures for bending, lifting, and safe use of equipment, including following safe procedures for protection against blood borne pathogens.
- Report hazardous conditions in the work area or equipment to Management.
- Complete the required form as soon as possible when discovering property damage in rooms or missing items from room inventory, then submit it to the Manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in English to communicate effectively with guests and associates.
- Ability to recognize numbers, add and subtract two-digit numbers, and work with measuring units.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to handle standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Willingness to perform any required task within an associate’s capabilities to meet business and guest needs.
- Ability to get along well with others and maintain regular, predictable attendance.
Physical demands and work activity
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk and hear; also required to smell.
- Occasionally required to sit.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, outside weather, and extreme heat.
- Noise level is usually moderate.
Additional duties may be assigned by management. This position includes training associates, planning completion of work, supervising cleaning personnel, inspecting housekeeping service and equipment, and investigating complaints with corrective action when needed.
