Hotel Maintenance

Step into a hands-on role with the Historic Old Hotel, also known as the West Jefferson Hotel, located in West Jefferson, NC. This onsite maintenance position supports day-to-day comfort and smooth operation across hotel rooms and public spaces. The work is varied and practical, with opportunities to handle routine upkeep, respond to maintenance needs, and take ownership of smaller projects while coordinating with the team when required.

What you’ll do

• Complete routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical equipment, and interior building components to keep everything operating properly.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on hotel facilities equipment, including HVAC units, electrical systems, plumbing fixtures, carpentry tasks, and painting projects.
• Use schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues and carry out repairs efficiently.
• Troubleshoot complex systems using hand tools, ohmmeters, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Handle welding, electrical work, plumbing repairs, and maintenance painting with safety awareness and precision.
• Lead small maintenance projects independently and coordinate with team members when tasks require additional support.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used to support compliance with safety standards and operating procedures.

What you’ll need

• Ensure all hotel rooms and public spaces on site are working properly.
• Respond to maintenance requests across multiple areas, including electric, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and general construction.
• Contact relevant experts for situations requiring more advanced knowledge in a specific maintenance area, such as major deficiencies, to help resolve issues quickly.
• Coordinate with front desk and housekeeping to understand maintenance needs and track progress.
• Maintain an organized, up-to-date tracking list of maintenance requests, marking new, current, and completed tasks throughout the day.
• Communicate maintenance purchase needs to hotel management.
• Assist guests with direct maintenance requests as needed.
• Be able to work autonomously.
• Be able to stand for extended periods.
• Previous maintenance or construction experience required.

Pay and location

$18.00 per hour (from $18.00 per hour). This role is in person at the West Jefferson Hotel in West Jefferson, NC.
