Job Description

This role centers on meticulous cleaning to brand standards and delivering reliable, friendly service that supports a positive hotel experience. You will work closely with team members to uphold a clean, comfortable environment for every guest.

Responsibilities

  • Collects cleaning supplies from shelves and storerooms, prepares the cleaning cart, and keeps carts and storage areas neat and organized to streamline room-cleaning tasks.
  • Cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in rooms, public areas, and hallways, often using ladders or stools to reach high spots and maintain a clean, presentable facility.
  • Scrubs shower walls and bathtubs, cleans toilets and stall walls as needed, wipes exposed pipes, and cleans mirrors, sinks, and walls to ensure sanitary restrooms for guests and public areas.
  • Restocks towels, soaps, amenities, and literature that guests removed or damaged, ensuring adequate supplies for arriving guests.
  • Cleans all hard floor surfaces by hand to remove dirt and soiled areas.
  • Dusts and polishes furniture, fixtures, and wall hangings; reaches vents and ceiling corners to remove dust and cobwebs using a duster.
  • Strips beds and remakes with fresh linens, checks bedspreads and blankets for cleanliness, and inspects beneath and between mattresses for soil.
  • Inspects closets for cleanliness, wipes doors and handles, and restocks supplies such as hangers, extra blankets, and pillows.
  • Vacuum rooms, public areas, and hallways, operating vacuums up to 25 lbs and moving heavy furniture as needed to vacuum under and around all areas.
  • Checks door and window locks for proper operation and reports unsecured or unsafe conditions to management promptly.
  • Tests room equipment (TVs, lights, faucets, radios) and documents maintenance needs in writing for prompt repair by the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Maintains secure custody of equipment, keys, and supplies to safeguard hotel property.
  • Maintains a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or required by management.
  • Supports the laundry department by collecting soiled linens, sorting by load size, operating industrial washers, dryers, and pressers, and distributing clean linen to storage areas.
  • Cleans patio and balcony spaces by sweeping or hosing floors, wiping furniture and fixtures, collecting trash, and cleaning doors and windows.
  • Collaborates with colleagues across departments to support overall hotel performance.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of cleaning principles, products, and standard equipment.
  • Good vision to detect small debris in dim lighting and to read written instructions and computer print-outs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly over an 8-hour shift.
  • Fine motor dexterity with the upper body to push, pull, and move equipment and furniture during shifts.
  • Capability to work with arms raised overhead for extended periods.
  • Ability to maneuver a fully loaded cleaning cart up to 50 lbs through hallways and into storage spaces.
  • Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals.
  • Physically demanding role in an indoor climate-controlled setting, with heat and humidity in laundry areas.
  • Familiarity with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or other brand cleaning standards.
