Job Description
This Housekeeper role with Hotel Equities covers the Courtyard by Marriott and TownePlace Suites in Hawthorne, CA, onsite, at an hourly rate of USD 19.
Responsibilities
- Stock and prepare cleaning carts by retrieving supplies from storerooms and shelves, keeping carts and storerooms clean and organized for efficient room cleaning.
- Clean windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in guest rooms, public areas, and hallways, often using ladders or stepping stools to access hard to reach spots, ensuring a neat and appealing property.
- Sanitize bathrooms by cleaning shower walls and tubs, toilets, mirrors, sinks, and exposed pipes, maintaining sanitary guest and public restrooms.
- Restock towels, soaps, amenities, and literature as needed when items are removed by guests or become soiled or torn.
- Clean hard floor surfaces by hand to remove dirt and grime.
- Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and wall decor; reach vents and ceiling corners to remove dust and cobwebs.
- Strip beds and remake with fresh linens; verify cleanliness of bedspreads and blankets; lift mattresses to check for soil beneath and between components.
- Inspect and clean closets, wipe doors and handles, and restock guest room supplies such as hangers, extra blankets, and pillows.
- Vacuum guest rooms, public areas, and hallways; operate vacuums up to 25 lbs; maneuver and move heavy furniture to clean under and around hard to reach areas.
- Check door and window locks to verify security; promptly report unsecured or unsafe conditions to management.
- Inspect room equipment (TVs, lights, faucets, radios) for proper function and document deficiencies in writing to the Executive Housekeeper for prompt repair.
- Secure and monitor equipment, keys, and supplies to safeguard hotel property.
- Maintain a friendly, courteous demeanor with guests and colleagues at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support hotel operations.
- Assist the laundry department by retrieving soiled linen, sorting by load size, operating industrial washers/dryers/pressers, and delivering clean linen to storage areas or carts.
- Clean patio and balcony areas by sweeping or hosing floors, wiping furniture and fixtures, removing trash, and cleaning doors and windows.
- Collaborate with other departments to contribute to the overall performance of the housekeeping team and hotel.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, products, and standard cleaning equipment.
- Vision to detect minute debris in low light and the ability to read written instructions and computer printouts.
- Upper body strength to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout an 8 hour shift.
- Dexterity in hands, fingers, and upper body to push, pull, and move levers, equipment, and furniture during the shift.
- Ability to work with arms raised above the head for extended periods.
- Ability to maneuver a fully loaded maid cart weighing up to 50 lbs through hallways and into/out of closets all day.
- Exposure to hazardous cleaning chemicals on a continual basis.
- Prolonged strenuous physical activity in an indoor climate-controlled environment, with potential exposure to heat and humidity in laundry areas.
- High School diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience preferred.
