Maintenance Engineer

Join a hotel team that depends on dependable, safety-focused maintenance support to keep guest spaces running smoothly. This onsite role in La Jolla, CA supports the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of assigned equipment across the property, while contributing to a preventative maintenance program and responding to guest requests and work orders.

What you’ll do

• Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of assigned hotel equipment.
• Handle preventative maintenance and in-room updates, including changing light bulbs and performing guest room work such as vinyl repair, touch up paint, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, and tile repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance across key systems and areas, including ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guest rooms, meeting rooms, swimming pool, and hot tub.
• Perform plumbing repairs, laundry equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance on all exhaust fans and supply; monitor energy conservation.
• Repair vacuum cleaners and other small equipment upon request, and complete additional trade jobs as needed.
• Immediately follow up on alarms by determining the exact location and cause, identifying whether an emergency exists, and report findings to the Front Desk.
• Complete other tasks assigned by the supervisor or manager, including trade work such as carpentry, painting, and plumbing.

Safety, access, and trust

This position requires responsible handling of access and property areas. You will have access to back of house areas and sensitive information, and you may interact with guests and/or colleagues, including occasional unsupervised contact. You will also be granted access to and control of sensitive areas such as the Hotel Safe, Master Keys and/or guestrooms, Storage/Liquor Room, and secured file cabinets.
