Maintenance / Hotel Engineer
Job Description
Delamar Hotel in Traverse City, MI is hiring a Maintenance / Hotel Engineer onsite to keep the property running smoothly and help ensure a great guest experience across guestrooms, pools, and common spaces. In this role, you will handle hands-on maintenance, repairs, and preventative work while collaborating with the Chief Engineer and the Maintenance Team. Compensation: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour (USD)
Schedule: Full-time and Part-time (in-person)
What you’ll do
- Fix and maintain mechanical equipment, including assigned work requests across electrical and mechanical systems
- Complete preventative maintenance and daily checklists for guestrooms and public areas
- Perform plumbing work, painting, and flooring repair and upkeep
- Support basic electrical and HVAC repairs as needed
- Handle outdoor and landscaping duties, including mowing, weeding, trimming, watering, garbage removal, and clearing/cleaning parking lot debris
- Maintain beach clean-up tasks such as raking and event prep
- Clear sidewalks and entrances during inclement weather, including shoveling, snowplowing, and snow blowing
- Make repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings, including patching or replacing plaster and repainting walls, ceilings, and trim
- Move items to different hotel locations and/or storage and clean work areas after completion
- Maintain logs and documentation, follow company work policies and procedures, and report daily to the Chief Engineer about any issues
- Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor and provide personalized guest service at all times
- Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment, and comply with OSHA standards
- Work as a shuttle driver during staffing shortages or peak check-in/check-out periods, if needed
- Perform work to local, state, and federal codes
Skills and qualifications
- Strong skills in plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical
- HVAC skills preferred (not required)
- Ability to respond effectively during emergency procedures
- Ability to maintain logs and documentation properly
- Relevant technical knowledge with problem-solving skills
- Efficiency and organization, with teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and with little supervision
- Conversational English vocabulary
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must have a valid driver’s license
