Job Description

The River Lodge Houseman role supports housekeeping operations for Wilderness Hotel and Resort Inc, stationed onsite in Sevierville, Tennessee. The position assists room attendants and inspectors by transporting clean and dirty linens, delivering supplies, and disposing of trash, while also handling guest requests and coordinating with Guest Services as needed. The role is compensated at USD 15 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Perform storage closet inventories and replenish supplies as required.
  • Assist room attendants with tasks such as stripping bed linens and removing trash, plus other duties as assigned.
  • Sort soiled linen and towels into separate carts and transport to the basement.
  • Move clean towels and linens from the basement to the houseman closet when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized houseman closet and complete the daily check list.
  • Deliver items to rooms as requested by guests through the front desk, including irons and extra linens.
  • Retrieve items used by previous guests found in rooms or hallways and return them to proper locations.
  • Keep floors clear of trash, dirty linens, and towels; wipe spills as they occur.
  • Handle chemicals in accordance with provided directions, review material safety data sheets, and wear PPE as required.
  • Follow safety procedures for bending, lifting, and operating equipment; adhere to protections against bloodborne pathogens.
  • Report hazardous conditions in the work area or equipment to Management.
  • Document and secure lost and found items and submit them in line with Company policy.
  • Interact with guests in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Complete the required form promptly when damage to property or missing room inventory is discovered, then submit to the Manager.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Level 2: Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Level 1: Perform arithmetic with two digit numbers, including money, weight, volume, and distance.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; speak and hear.
  • Regularly lift 50 pounds or more with assistance; frequently lift up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Vision requirement: close vision.

Work Environment

  • Occasionally exposed to toxic and caustic chemicals.
