Job Description
At The Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center, the Room Attendant plays a key role in keeping guest rooms clean, welcoming, and in line with hotel standards. This onsite position in State College, PA 16803 focuses on maintaining room readiness through consistent, safety-aware cleaning and service practices.
The driving philosophy of the role is guest service, supported by prompt attention to guest needs and dependable completion of daily room care and housekeeping duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain guest service as the driving philosophy of the operation.
- Respond promptly to guests’ needs and demonstrate a personal commitment to guest service.
- Work to ensure every guest is satisfied and meet or exceed guest satisfaction measures.
- Ensure hotel standards and services support consistent guest service.
- Implement and follow guest service initiatives and Hotel Standards.
- Greet all guests (internal and external).
- Complete pre-cleaning duties, including setting up housekeeping cart supplies, cleaning supplies, and linen.
- Remove all trash and dirty linen from guest rooms.
- Thoroughly clean and re-stock guest rooms per 8 hour shift, following the hotel standard of 30 minutes per departure room.
- Clean guest bathrooms up to hotel standards.
- Prepare the housekeeping cleaning cart for next day’s use.
- Keep hallways, public areas, and closets clean, neat, and vacuumed; maintain storage closets by removing dirty linen and trash daily.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and nametag.
- Comply with Hotel standards and regulations to support safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Perform other duties as required.
Room Cleaning Tasks
- Make beds, vacuum, dust, and complete room setup.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- No experience necessary, though previous experience is helpful.
- Must be a team player.
- Ability to read and speak English; comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, guests, and supervisors for optimum operation of the property.
- Ability to present information in small group situations to customers and other employees.
- Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.
- Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed for an extended period of time.
- Ability to reach above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lift as required to store materials.
- Proper lifting techniques required.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects over 50 lbs.
- Ability to use various equipment, including vacuum cleaners.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Must be able to work with various cleaning solutions.
- Physically able to clean, lift, and bend for extended periods.
