Job Description

The Banquet Houseperson supports the opening and day-to-day success of the new Hotel Polaris at the U.S. Air Force Academy by preparing, maintaining, and resetting banquet and event spaces according to Banquet Event Orders (BEO). This onsite, full-time role also contributes to timely food and beverage delivery during events while maintaining safety and professional service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and follow Banquet Event Orders (BEO) for each function.
  • Maintain cleanliness of banquet rooms and surrounding areas to a consistently pleasing standard.
  • Clean banquet space using a cleaning machine and chemical products.
  • Set up tables, chairs, and other event supplies as required.
  • Complete daily tear-down and set-up of meeting and event rooms.
  • Inspect public areas including the foyer, assembly areas, and restrooms for cleanliness and appearance.
  • Inspect each function room prior to service and again during breaks to confirm requirements listed on the daily BEO are met.
  • Maintain constant awareness of safety issues throughout event operations.
  • Ensure a professional appearance, wearing proper uniforms, and meeting departmental service standards.
  • Use basic knowledge of wine, beer, spirits, glassware, garnishes, and beverage service techniques.
  • Support the delivery of food and drinks in a fast-paced event environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Prior hospitality experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Food Handler’s card upon hire.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the day.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, squat, push, and pull frequently.
