Bellperson/Shuttle Driver
Job Description
As a Bellperson/Shuttle Driver at the Beauport Hotel Gloucester, you will support guest arrivals and departures, assist with luggage handling, and provide safe local transportation for in-house guests using the hotel shuttle.
Key Responsibilities
- Open hotel doors for guests entering and exiting the property.
- Set the tone for the guest experience through consistent, professional customer service.
- Unload luggage from vehicles such as cars or taxis and assist guests to the front desk area.
- Help transport and store guest luggage, including carrying luggage to guest rooms as needed.
- Inform guests about in-room and onsite amenities, including Wi-Fi, temperature control, and directions to the Birdseye Rooftop Pool.
- Store and retrieve luggage from the bell closet and regularly log luggage activity.
- Provide local directions and other information when requested.
- When possible, notify the Front Desk of VIP arrivals using the two-way radio.
- Deliver mail and packages to in-house guests in a timely manner as directed by the Front Desk, including handling special requests.
- Transport hotel guests to local attractions within a 3-mile radius.
- Follow the shuttle schedule and remain attentive to guest transportation needs.
- Maintain shuttle cleanliness and monitor routine shuttle maintenance in coordination with the Front Office Manager.
- Stay current on in-house events on a daily basis.
- Follow safety and emergency procedures and comply with hotel policies and procedures, including attendance and attire standards.
- Work closely with the Valet Team to support proper traffic flow.
- Maintain the appearance of the front door area.
- Thank guests for choosing the hotel and load departing guest luggage into vehicles.
- Complete special projects assigned by Hotel Management.
Required Qualifications
- At least 1 year of customer service experience; hospitality experience is preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license with a current address and acceptable driving history.
- Ability to stand, walk, and run for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 30 lbs.
- Ability to walk/stand approximately 90% of shift.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and lift frequently throughout the shift.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to adhere to all safety requirements.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Compensation
USD 15 - 20 per hour. Base wage is $15/hr plus tips, calculated based on historical averages and seasonality. Total compensation typically ranges between $16-$20/hr.
Location and Schedule
Gloucester, MA (onsite). Work primarily takes place at the front door area, with time spent on interior and exterior areas of the hotel.
