Job Description

Hotel Equities is hiring a Cabinkeeper for an onsite role in Columbus, IN. In this position, you will clean and prepare Postcard Cabins Brown County cabins and public spaces to established cleanliness standards, helping create a strong guest experience and supporting revenue goals.

Working to a detail-focused routine, you will handle cabin resets, restroom sanitation, equipment checks, and restocking, while maintaining a friendly, courteous approach. You will also document cabin status and promptly report maintenance needs to your direct supervisor in writing.

What you will do

  • Clean assigned cabins (and cabin patios), including wiping and cleaning windows, doors, walls, closets, floors, bathrooms, appliances, and fixtures, as well as cabins, public areas, and hallways, to keep the facility clean, presentable, and attractive.
  • Use ladders or stools when needed to reach hard-to-access areas during the cleaning process.
  • Sanitize guest and public restrooms by washing shower walls and tubs, cleaning toilets and stall walls when applicable, wiping exposed pipes, and cleaning mirrors, sinks, and walls.
  • Restock each cabin by replacing linen, toiletries, and collateral.
  • Clean hard floor surfaces (linoleum, tile, and similar) by hand to remove dirt and soiled areas.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas to maintain overall cleanliness.
  • Inspect room equipment such as TVs, lights/lamps, faucets, and radios to confirm proper working order, then immediately report room status and maintenance deficiencies in writing to your direct supervisor for prompt repair or resolution.
  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Complete other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.

Role requirements

  • High school diploma /secondary qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience with cleaning standards from Marriott, Hilton, IHG, or Wyndham.
  • Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, cleaning product use, and operation of standard cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to see minute debris and dirt in poorly lit areas, and to read written instructions and computer print-outs.
  • Upper body strength to lift up to 50 lbs continuously throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Finger, hand, and upper body dexterity to push, pull, and move levers, equipment, and furniture throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to work with arms raised above head throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to maneuver a fully loaded maid cart (up to 50 lbs) through hallways and into and out of closets throughout the work day.
  • Ongoing exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Prolonged strenuous physical activity in an indoor climate-controlled environment, including excessive heat and humidity in laundry.

Materials and equipment

  • Basic residential cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaning equipment.
  • Cleaning cart, ladder/stepping stool.
  • Commercial washers, dryers, and pressers.

Schedule and work style

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Strong communication skills when interacting with guests and employees.
  • Reading and writing used frequently to complete paperwork and log issues, complaints, requests, and information updates.

Education and pay

  • Salary: USD 14 - 15 per hour (hourly).
  • Education: High School diploma /Secondary qualification or equivalent.
