Executive Housekeeper
Job Description
At Best Western Resort Hotel in Portage, WI, the Executive Housekeeper oversees the daily operation of the housekeeping and laundry departments to keep the property clean, organized, and guest-ready. This role focuses on delivering a consistent standard of cleanliness in both guest rooms and public areas while supporting attentive service for hotel guests.
You will lead the team through staffing, training, scheduling, and inspections, helping maintain strong housekeeping quality throughout the property. When guest or operational needs arise, you will address issues promptly and coordinate with other departments to ensure all areas are handled effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Hire, train, and evaluate department personnel.
- Direct daily activities for housekeeping and laundry to support guest room and public area service.
- Schedule duties including tasks such as heavy cleaning and mattress rotations.
- Inspect premises, guest rooms, linen rooms, and public areas to verify housekeeping standards are met.
- Maintain inventory for guest and housekeeping supplies and linen, ordering replacements for supplies and equipment as needed.
- Create a guest-focused service environment with a consistent commitment to cleanliness standards.
- Respond promptly to customer needs and handle requests in a timely manner.
- Identify and resolve problems, including developing alternative solutions when needed.
- Coordinate staff training, including MSDS, OSHA, and safety policies.
- Perform room attendant duties when required.
- Work with other departments to ensure guests are taken care of.
- Work closely with the manager to help ensure all rooms are in good condition.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of prior hotel housekeeping experience.
- Supervisory experience is required (Housekeeping Supervisor: 1 year required).
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Reliability is required.
- Driver’s License is required.
- Ability to take criticism and take charge with demanding employees.
- Dependability and the ability to stay out of drama, helping end drama with staff.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays, as this is a 24/7 business.
Skills & Training Focus
- Comfort working with MSDS and OSHA-related training and safety policies.
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: From $15.00 per hour
- Job type: Full-time
- Hours: At least 32 hours, with possibility of more depending on business needs.
