Job Description
The Housekeeper role at Hotel Equities within the Hampton Inn & Suites Irving Hwy 183 in Irving, TX is an onsite position focused on cleaning guest rooms and public areas to uphold cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Organize and restock cleaning carts from Storerooms, keeping supplies accessible and carts tidy to boost cleaning efficiency.
- Clean windows, doors, walls, closets and fixtures in guest rooms, public areas and corridors, often using ladders or stools to reach elevated spots for a consistently polished appearance.
- Sanitize shower walls and tubs, clean toilets and stall walls where applicable, wipe exposed plumbing, and buff mirrors, sinks and adjacent walls to maintain sanitary facilities.
- Replace towels, soaps and room amenities, and restock literature removed or damaged by guests to ensure full guest readiness.
- Scrub hard surface floors by hand to remove dirt and soiled patches.
- Dust and polish furniture, fixtures and wall hangings, including vent and ceiling corners to eliminate dust and cobwebs.
- Strip beds of linens and remake with fresh sheets, checking bedspreads, blankets and pads for cleanliness; lift mattresses to inspect for debris.
- Inspect closets for cleanliness, wipe doors and handles, check overhead shelves, and restock hangers, extra blankets and pillows.
- Vacuum guest rooms, public areas and hallways, operating vacuums up to 25 lbs and moving heavy furniture as needed to clean under and behind all surfaces.
- Check door and window locks for proper operation and promptly report any unsecured or unsafe conditions to management.
- Inspect room equipment (TV, lights, faucets, radios) to confirm proper function and document maintenance needs in writing to the Executive Housekeeper.
- Secure and safeguard equipment, keys and supplies to protect hotel property.
- Maintain a friendly, courteous demeanor at all times while performing duties.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management to support overall operations.
- Support the laundry department by retrieving soiled linens, sorting loads, operating industrial washers, dryers and presses, and delivering cleaned linen to storage or carts.
- Clean patio or balcony areas by sweeping or hosing floors, wiping furniture and fixtures, removing trash, and cleaning doors and windows.
- Assist colleagues and other departments to contribute to the hotel’s overall performance.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of cleaning principles, products, and operation of standard cleaning equipment.
- Vision to detect minute debris in low light and to read instructions and computer print-outs.
- Upper body strength to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly during an 8 hour shift.
- Dexterity to push, pull and move levers, equipment and furniture throughout the shift.
- Ability to work with arms raised above head for extended periods.
- Capacity to maneuver a fully loaded maid cart weighing up to 50 lbs through hallways and in/out of closets all day.
- Experience with basic residential cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaning equipment.
- Proficiency with a cleaning cart, ladder or stepping stool, and access to commercial washers, dryers and pressers.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals on a continual basis.
- Prolonged strenuous physical activity in an indoor climate-controlled environment, with potential for heat and humidity in laundry areas.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
