Job Description
Housekeeper at The Eddie Hotel in Gillette, WY (onsite) focusing on clean, ready-to-stay rooms and well-kept public spaces.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve items from shelves and storerooms; set up and maintain a stocked cleaning cart to support efficient room turns.
- Keep carts and storerooms clean, organized, and ready for use throughout shifts.
- Clean and wipe windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in guest rooms, public areas, and hallways.
- Use ladders or stepping stools to clean hard-to-reach spots and keep areas presentable at all times.
- Wash shower walls and tubs; clean toilet(s) and stall walls if applicable; wipe exposed pipes.
- Clean mirrors, sink(s), and walls to maintain sanitary guest and public restrooms.
- Replace towels, soaps, and room amenities; restock literature that is soiled, torn, or missing from prior guests.
- Wash hard floor surfaces by hand (linoleum, tile, and similar materials) to remove dirt and soiled areas.
- Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and wall hangings; use a duster to reach vents and ceiling corners to remove dust and cobwebs.
- Strip beds of all linen and remake with fresh linens; verify bedspread, blankets, and bed pads are clean and replace if soiled.
- Lift mattresses to check for soil between mattresses and under beds.
- Check closets for cleanliness; wipe closet doors, handles, and overhead shelves.
- Restock guest room supplies such as hangers, extra blankets, and pillows.
- Vacuum guest rooms, public areas, and hallways using vacuums weighing up to 25 lbs; move and lift heavy furniture to vacuum carpet fully, including under furniture and hard-to-reach areas.
- Inspect door and window locks; immediately notify management of any unsecured or unsafe condition.
- Inspect room equipment (TV, lights/lamps, faucets, radios) and report maintenance deficiencies and room status in writing to the Executive Housekeeper.
- Maintain custody of equipment, keys, and supplies at all times to protect hotel property.
- Maintain a friendly, cheerful, courteous demeanor at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
- Assist the laundry department by retrieving soiled linen, sorting into correct size loads, and using industrial washers, dryers, and pressers.
- Fold and distribute cleaned linen to storage closets and/or carts.
- Clean patio/balcony areas by sweeping or hosing floors; wipe furniture and fixtures; pick up garbage; clean patio/balcony doors and windows.
- Provide support to other employees and departments to contribute to overall department and hotel performance.
Requirements
- High School diploma / Secondary qualification or equivalent.
- Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or cleaning standards.
- Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products, and operation of standard cleaning equipment.
- Vision ability to see minute debris and dirt in poorly lit areas, and ability to read written instructions and computer print-outs.
- Upper body strength to lift up to 50 lbs continually throughout an 8 hour shift.
- Finger, hand, and upper body dexterity to push, pull, and move levers, equipment, and furniture throughout an 8 hour shift.
- Ability to work with arms raised above head throughout an 8 hour shift.
- Ability to maneuver a fully loaded maid cart (up to 50 lbs) through hallways and into/out of closets throughout the workday.
- Basic residential cleaning equipment knowledge: vacuums, floor buffers, carpet cleaning equipment; cleaning cart; ladder/stepping stool; commercial washers, dryers, and pressers.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals on a continual basis.
- Prolonged strenuous physical activity in an indoor climate-controlled environment; excessive heat and humidity in laundry.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with guests and employees.
- Reading and writing ability for paperwork and logging issues/complaints/requests/information updates.
- Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities used frequently.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
