Irrigation Technician

The Irrigation Technician for The Buccaneer Hotel in Christiansted, VI will support reliable operation of the golf course irrigation system through repairs, preventative maintenance, and accurate equipment records. The role is onsite and focused on maintaining system components while helping management stay informed about turf-related issues.

Scope and General Purpose

The Irrigation Technician repairs and performs preventative maintenance for equipment associated with the irrigation system, while keeping records for related assets. The position also maintains inventory of irrigation parts and reports irregularities in course turf quality to management.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain mechanical and electrical components of the golf course irrigation system.
• Repair irrigation lines, heads, and valves as needed.
• Complete preventative maintenance, including starting and closing the irrigation system.
• Maintain inventory of parts required for system maintenance.
• Maintain current system maps.
• Keep the workstation neat and clean.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of general irrigation experience, with golf course experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of electricity and hydraulics as they relate to irrigation system operation, including operating and maintaining automatic valves and controllers.
• Working knowledge of pumping systems, water line repair, and sprinkler head repair or replacement.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and operate light equipment.
