Job Description

The Overnight Auditor at Porter Square Hotel LLC supports the front desk and operations through the night, ensuring a smooth guest experience from check-in and check-out to the completion of nightly financial reporting. This onsite role in Cambridge, MA works under the Front Desk Manager/Operations Manager and requires you to stay awake and alert for the duration of your shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support guest check-in and check-out, handling guest information with confidentiality
  • Manage reservation needs, including inquiries, cancellations, and amendments
  • Maintain guest satisfaction by upholding the highest quality of guest service
  • Follow the shift checklist and record notes accurately throughout the shift
  • Run nightly audit reports and journals from all credit card and computer systems
  • Reconcile credit card systems (Shift4) with night audit reports pertaining to in-house guests/folios
  • Balance nightly revenue and settlement accounts, maintain required files, and reset systems for the next day’s operations
  • Enter and verify revenue, expenses, and allowances to generate daily reports and other items on the nightly audit checklist
  • Review and verify rate changes for in-house guests and correct discrepancies
  • Reconcile valet and daily charges with the valet company and complete other reporting as required
  • Perform accurate cash handling and safety deposit box procedures
  • Monitor lobby traffic and help control the flow of non-guests entering the hotel when needed
  • Review VIP reservations for both incoming and in-house guests
  • Prepare the lobby and breakfast for the oncoming shift

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of service standards, guest relations, and etiquette
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local health and safety regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate using English with guests and associates
  • Excellent mathematical and computer skills
  • Ability to remain awake and alert during the entire shift
  • High school education and/or relevant training and experience required; additional education preferred
  • Additional language ability preferred
  • roomMaster training preferred, but not required
  • Professional conduct and appearance, setting standards for associates
  • Strong verbal communication skills with guests, vendors, and other associates
  • Ability to help prepare statistical reports and presentations as needed
  • Ability to accurately report information
  • Remain calm and alert, especially during emergencies or periods of heavy hotel activity
  • Ability to quickly resolve guest complications such as location changes or credit issues
  • Ability to field guest complaints and develop effective solutions
  • Complete projects and assignments thoroughly, professionally, and with care
  • Adapt to high-pressure conditions and changes in priorities
  • Assume responsibility for personal growth and development
  • Express ideas and convey information clearly, effectively, and professionally
  • Attend required meetings

Compensation and Benefits

  • $19 - $21 per hour, based on previous experience
  • 3 weeks paid time off available to be accrued per year
