Director of Housekeeping
Job Description
The Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Marina Hotel is seeking a Director of Housekeeping to lead and manage daily housekeeping operations onsite in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In this role, you will oversee room and public space cleanliness while guiding associates to meet brand and/or HHM operational expectations and financial standards.
Role overview
You will be responsible for controlling housekeeping operations and staff performance, ensuring hotel rooms and assigned areas are clean, well maintained, and aligned with established standards and HHM core values.
Responsibilities
- Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support housekeeping associates so they perform in line with established brand or hotel standards and HHM core values.
- Maintain an inspection program for hotel rooms, public areas, and other assigned spaces.
- Oversee or create schedules based on hotel occupancy and updated forecasts, and notify third-party vendors of weekly staffing needs.
- Observe and monitor staff performance to meet productivity and cleanliness standards.
- Monitor inventory and submit periodic inventory orders to support timely supply purchasing.
- Monitor and communicate guest service scores to support continuous improvement and higher guest satisfaction.
- Conduct daily pre-shift meetings to communicate with and celebrate housekeeping team accomplishments.
- Comply with HHM internal audit standards related to key control and risk management areas, including lost and found, key control, and guest room safety.
- Maintain positive working relationships with vendors and third-party contract labor.
- Maintain departmental expenses in line with budget and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, if applicable.
- Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM’s EarthView program.
- Practice safe work habits, follow MSDS and OSHA standards, wear protective safety equipment, and participate in safety committees as directed.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- Two years of previous housekeeping supervisor experience required.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work environment and schedule
The schedule varies and may include holidays and weekends or occasional alternate shifts. The role requires standing for extended periods and includes walking, pushing, lifting up to 25 pounds, bending and reaching, and stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
