Public Area Attendant
Job Description
The Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall presentation of E11EVEN Club Hotel & Residences public spaces. The position supports Highgate standards and luxury brand expectations while caring for multiple shared areas and assisting housekeeping operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a professional, attentive, and courteous demeanor when interacting with guests, managers, and team members.
- Use proper two-way radio etiquette to communicate clearly, respectfully, and efficiently with hotel staff.
- Practice safe work habits at all times to support the safety of guests, colleagues, and self.
- Handle Lost and Found items according to hotel standards, including proper documentation, security, and follow-up.
- Return keys, communication devices, and assignment materials to the Housekeeping Office at the end of each shift.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns promptly to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager for timely resolution.
- Maintain familiarity with guestroom cleaning procedures and assist Room Attendants when operational needs require.
- Deliver clean linen to assigned areas as needed, and collect soiled linen and trash from Room Attendants to support workflow efficiency.
- Remove trash from service landings and dispose of it properly in designated dumpsters before the end of each shift.
- Vacuum guest corridors to maintain a clean, orderly, and welcoming environment.
- Keep hallways, public areas, storage rooms, and closets neat, organized, and free of clutter.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and presentation standards in all public restrooms throughout the shift.
- Follow assigned schedules for deep cleaning and special project cleaning of public areas.
- Maintain stairwells in line with hotel cleanliness and safety standards.
- Keep ash urns clean, properly maintained, and filled with sand as required.
- Support overall guest satisfaction by ensuring public areas remain clean, safe, and well-presented at all times.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; prior hotel or related industry experience preferred, and previous housekeeping experience strongly valued.
- Experience with a luxury or lifestyle hotel brand preferred, including familiarity with elevated cleanliness standards and guest expectations.
- Ability to work varying schedules, including long hours, based on operational needs.
- Physical ability to perform medium work, including occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and frequently lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand and remain active for the duration of the shift.
- Warm, friendly, and professional demeanor when interacting with guests and colleagues.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including attentive and service-oriented engagement with guests and employees.
- Ability to actively listen, understand, and respond appropriately to concerns from guests and team members.
- Strong organizational skills to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Regular attendance in accordance with scheduling needs, including participation in required meetings and training.
- Maintain a polished professional appearance, including proper uniform, personal protective equipment, and name tag.
- Compliance with Highgate standards, policies, and safety regulations for safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Ability to identify productivity opportunities, recognize problem areas, and assist in implementing practical solutions.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including proactively anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving operational issues.
- Ability to understand and apply information from multiple sources to meet job expectations and operational objectives.
- Flexibility to cross-train in other hotel departments to support operational needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Initiative to anticipate guest and operational needs and respond appropriately.
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support hotel needs.
