Public Spaces Attendant
Job Description
Public Spaces Attendant role for The Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center in State College, PA, working the evening/night shift on-site.
Responsibilities
- Maintain guest service as the driving philosophy of the operation
- Respond promptly to guests’ needs and demonstrate commitment to guest service
- Support guest satisfaction by meeting or exceeding hotel satisfaction measures
- Implement and practice guest service initiatives and perform to Hotel Standards
- Greet all guests (internal and external)
- Clean the parking lot and exterior grounds
- Transport clean and soiled linens
- Remove trash from guest hallways and the lobby area when needed
- Vacuum carpeting; shampoo carpeting; mop floors
- Clean furniture and move furniture as needed
- Deliver items to guest rooms per request
- Support cleaning and readiness across guest and public areas, including:
- Front and rear entrance, lobby seating and lower lobby seating, lobby elevator landing
- Parking lot, business center, fitness room
- Pool area and restrooms
- Guest laundry area and walkways
- Meeting/conference center foyer, walkways, hallways, and restrooms
- All office space, restrooms, walkways, and hallways
- Vacuum all carpeted areas in the lobby, meeting/conference center foyer, and office areas
- Clean and wipe glass doors, tables, displays, windows, and fixtures across lobby, meeting/conference center foyer, and office areas
- Clean and wipe tables and counters across lobby, meeting/conference center foyer, and office areas
- Clean and stock restrooms in the pool area, meeting/conference center, and office areas
- Maintain cleanliness and order of lobby furniture (spot clean and rotate cushions)
- Empty and clean trash cans across the lobby, meeting/conference center foyer, and office areas
- Clean, sweep, and mop marble or tiled floors in the lobby and restrooms, keeping floors dry and polished
- Clean and sweep the front entrance vestibule and outside doors
- Empty and clean trash cans in the front and rear entrance to the lobby
- Report all damages to the department supervisor, manager, and other appropriate personnel
- Perform other duties as required, including assignments from the Director of Housekeeping, Assistant Housekeeping Manager, or Housekeeping Supervisor
Shift & Schedule
- Evening/night shift: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
Requirements
- High school degree preferred
- Previous housekeeping experience is helpful
- Ability to read and speak English and comprehend simple instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, guests, and supervisors for optimum property operation
- Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues
- Ability to sit or stand as needed for extended periods
- Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, and lifting as required to file documents or store materials
- Proper lifting techniques required
- Physical capability to exert up to 75 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects
- Ability to use various EQP vacuum cleaners and buffers
