Job Description
OT H Hotels Resorts offers a fast-paced, hands-on role supporting memorable meetings and events in Pittsburgh, PA (onsite). As a Banquet Houseperson, you help ensure every room is prepared correctly, kept clean and organized throughout the function, and reset smoothly after the event ends.
What you will do
- Set up banquet rooms and meeting spaces according to event orders and specifications
- Arrange tables, chairs, linens, and event equipment to match the required setup
- Prepare details including centerpieces, table settings, décor elements, and meeting space presentation
- Dress tables as needed, including draping, setting silverware, folding napkins, and completing meeting room preparation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in banquet, meeting, and conference areas using established cleaning schedules
- Ensure equipment is in proper working condition and report any defects
- Replenish beverages, including water service, and keep meeting rooms stocked with the necessary supplies
- Provide courteous, professional support to guests during events and respond promptly to guest requests
- Use good judgment to handle guest concerns and escalate when necessary
- Anticipate equipment and supply needs based on event orders and keep storerooms and back-of-house areas organized
- Clean and organize back halls and storage areas after events
- Comply with hotel safety, fire, and health regulations, maintaining hazard-free workspaces at all times
- Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment properly
- Attend pre-shift meetings, stay informed of event requirements, and communicate effectively with the banquet team and management
- Support other food and beverage roles as needed to help ensure successful event execution
What you bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in banquet setup, hospitality, or a related field preferred
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills in guest service situations
- Strong attention to detail for room setup and cleanliness standards
- Ability to anticipate needs and proactively prepare event spaces
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Reliability and a strong work ethic, with consistent cleanliness and organization
Work environment and physical demands
- No regular travel required
- Constant standing, with frequent walking, pushing/pulling, and use of manual dexterity
- Occasional sitting, bending, and balancing
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to work continuously during event setup and service periods
- Ability to navigate indoor and outdoor event spaces, including uneven surfaces
