Bartender

Deliver luxury craft cocktails and guest-first bar service at The Spectator Hotel in Charleston, SC.

Responsibilities

• Craft luxury cocktails with precision, speed, and consistent presentation
• Maintain strong knowledge of premium spirits, craft cocktails, wine, and local offerings
• Complete bar prep including batching, squeezing fresh juices, and preparing custom garnishes
• Follow portion controls and standard recipes to ensure quality and reduce waste
• Provide personalized, anticipatory service in a high-touch environment
• Engage guests warmly, build rapport, and support repeat visits
• Present food and beverage menus confidently, including tailored recommendations and pairings
• Maintain the refined ambiance, professionalism, and attention to detail expected in a luxury boutique hotel
• Keep the bar clean, organized, stocked, and visually appealing throughout service
• Perform daily opening, shift-change, and closing duties
• Ensure glassware, tools, and equipment are properly sanitized, handled, and stored
• Support room service and guest lounge beverage requests as needed
• Uphold health, safety, and sanitation standards and provide responsible alcohol service (TIPS/ServSafe certified where applicable)

Requirements

• 3+ years of craft-cocktail focused bartending experience
• Luxury hotel, boutique hotel, or upscale cocktail bar experience strongly preferred
• Proven ability in craft cocktails, classic mixology, premium spirits, and wine service
• Exceptional communication, active listening, and guest engagement skills
• Strong multitasking capability and composure under pressure
• Genuine passion for hospitality and beverage culture
• Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously for extended periods
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (for example: cases, kegs, ice bucket loads)
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Professional appearance and adherence to company grooming standards
• SC Alcohol Certification (Required)
• TIPS/ServSafe certified where applicable
• Typical shift runs 2 PM to 10–11 PM; ability to arrive by 2 PM each day

Position Summary

• Serve as a craft cocktail expert and ambassador of the luxury beverage program
• Combine creativity, attention to detail, and technical skill with genuine guest engagement
• Report to the Food & Beverage Manager and Director of Food & Beverage

• Pay: From $16.50 per hour (USD 16 per hourly listed)
• Schedule: 10 hour shift, 8 hour shift, Night shift
