Job Description
The Westgate Hotel is seeking a Bellperson to deliver warm, personalized service for arriving and departing guests in San Diego, CA. This non-exempt hourly role offers a supportive, guest-first culture, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for training and career growth as you help create memorable experiences from first welcome to final departure.
What you’ll do
- Greet guests promptly and professionally upon arrival and departure, assisting with luggage and setting a welcoming first and last impression.
- Escort guests to their rooms and share helpful information about hotel amenities, services, and features.
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations and directions for local attractions, dining, transportation, and points of interest throughout San Diego.
- Deliver guest items to rooms as requested, including amenities, packages, luggage, and other special requests.
- Coordinate transportation for guests, including taxis, shuttles, valet requests, and other transportation needs.
- Support smooth transitions by assisting with room moves, group arrivals, and group departures.
- Accurately log and tag all stored luggage while following hotel security and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance at the bell desk and lobby areas.
- Communicate effectively with Front Desk and other departments to support efficient operations and seamless guest service.
- Respond to questions and requests with professionalism, urgency, and a guest-first mindset.
- Demonstrate knowledge of hotel emergency procedures and safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support hotel operations.
What we’re looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous hospitality, hotel, valet, or customer service experience preferred.
- Friendly, outgoing, and guest-oriented personality with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to anticipate guest needs and provide personalized assistance.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to stay calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of San Diego attractions, restaurants, and local experiences is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining a high level of independence.
- Professional appearance and demeanor aligned with luxury hospitality standards.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on business needs.
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and frequently lift, carry, push, and pull luggage and equipment up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and maneuver luggage carts and guest belongings.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Compensation & schedule
$19 per hour. This is a non-exempt hourly position with a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
