Engineer (Hotel Maintenance)

The Whitney Hotel is seeking an Engineer to support consistent hotel operations through preventative maintenance and repairs, while maintaining a warm and guest-focused service approach.

Responsibilities

• Conduct room inspections and identify repair needs.
• Install or repair sheetrock and other wall coverings.
• Paint designated areas and items.
• Install and repair basic electrical fixtures, including replacing light switches, receptacles, light bulbs, and fixtures.
• Repair furniture.
• Install, replace, and program televisions.
• Perform minor plumbing functions.
• Replace and repair heating and cooling pumps, and complete preventative maintenance on units.
• Trace and repair all types of water lines.
• Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
• Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records.
• Perform and maintain work to local, state, and Federal codes.
• Monitor guest satisfaction scores and work toward improving departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
• Work as a bell attendant when staffing shortages occur or during peak check-in and check-out periods.
• Follow Service Recovery Guidelines.
• Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment, and comply with MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Ensure overall guest satisfaction and perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

• High School diploma; trade school course work in a related field preferred.
• Previous engineer/maintenance experience or equivalent training required.

Work Location and Schedule

This role is onsite in Boston, MA. Work schedule varies and may include holidays and weekends, along with alternate shifts.

Physical Requirements

The position requires frequent standing for extended periods and regular walking, pushing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Additional physical activities may include bending and reaching, kneeling, stooping, crawling, and climbing.
