Engineering Supervisor
Job Description
The Engineering Supervisor role at Clarion Collection Solita Soho Hotel is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the property’s maintenance operations. The position focuses on refrigeration, heating, plumbing, energy controls, and other building systems, while supervising maintenance associates and supporting timely completion of projects to specification.
Role Purpose
Maintain and supervise hotel maintenance operations, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, heating and cooling plant operations, and energy controls and efficiency. The role ensures required standards are maintained across hotel systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional, courteous guest service at all times.
- Supervise maintenance operations for the hotel center, covering refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventative maintenance, and work across front and back of house spaces.
- Oversee A/C units, ice machines, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, switch rooms, roof exhausts, electrical substations, and fire and life safety systems, along with other systems or equipment owned, leased, or managed by the hotel.
- Monitor electric, gas, oil, and water consumption on a prescribed basis.
- Monitor inventory levels, order new supplies as needed, and maintain a log of supplies used and purchased.
- Ensure purchased services and contracted work (including electrical, plumbing, cleaning, and related services) are completed in a manner that exceeds exhibitor and client expectations.
- Supervise assigned associates, including directly supervising Maintenance Associate.
- Ensure projects are completed according to specifications and completed on time.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping/Environmental Services to align activities.
- Coordinate with Security to maintain key inventory for all locks.
- Aid and instruct craftsmen with scheduling work to complete assignments by specified dates.
- Maintain an ongoing maintenance program for guestrooms, meeting rooms, public space back of house areas, kitchens, and all hotel equipment.
- Perform inventory and purchasing duties as required.
- Maintain cleanliness of grounds and attractiveness of landscaping.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of all workspaces and storage areas.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Complete projects as determined by the Chief Engineer.

- Mathematical skills sufficient to compute ratio and proportion and percentages, and to calculate surface, volumes, weight, and measures.
- Language skills to read instructions and safety rules; write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar; and speak with poise, voice control, confidence, correct English, and a well-modulated voice.
- Specific vocational preparation, including a combination of vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on-the-job training, or essential experience in less responsible jobs leading to higher responsibility; over 2 years up to and including 4 years.
Working Location and Compensation
- Location: New York, NY (onsite)
- Pay: USD 27 - 27 per hourly
- Minimum Experience: 2 years
