Job Description

The House Attendant position supports the cleanliness and readiness of hotel spaces at Mayflower Park Hotel in Seattle, WA. This role focuses on maintaining public areas to hotel standards, completing routine and deep cleaning tasks, and responding to guest and staff needs as directed.

Compensation

Salary: USD 21 - USD 21 per hour

Education

Education requirement: High school or equivalent education required

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning duties in public areas, storage areas, and administrative areas.
  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobby, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and the fitness center.
  • Supply your own cleaning cart with appropriate supplies for the shift.
  • Ensure work areas are clean and maintained after completing tasks.
  • Maintain knowledge of the hotel to assist with answering guest inquiries and requests.
  • Run supplies and service items to guestrooms as requested.
  • Dust furniture and fixtures; polish metalwork and furniture; vacuum floors.
  • Participate in the guest room Deep Cleaning program.
  • Complete deep cleaning tasks and special projects (examples include mattress flipping and furniture moves).
  • Assist with carpet cleaning and extraction.
  • Strip rooms for Room Attendants upon check out.
  • Collect soiled linens from rooms for laundering and receive and store linen supplies in appropriate locations.
  • Assist Room Attendants by bringing additional items needed for guest rooms.
  • Remove and dispose of trash.
  • Clean outside areas, including porte cochere and other arrival areas.
  • Ensure staff break areas and administrative offices are clean and well maintained.
  • Assist with guest inquiries and perform other duties assigned by managers and supervisors.

Safety, Security, and Reporting

  • Follow all company policies and safety and security procedures.
  • Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by direct and indirect supervisors.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic computational ability.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers, including situations requiring patience, tact, diplomacy, and accurate information gathering to resolve conflicts.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently.
  • Exceptionally strong issue resolution skills, proven analytical skills, and strong attention to detail.

Physical Demands

  • Environmental conditions are inside; the job is considered inside if staff spends approximately 75 percent or more of the time inside.
  • Moderate temperature controlled by hotel environmental systems.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for up to six (6) hours per day.
  • Walking and standing are required at times; duration may vary based on day and task.
  • Ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously, including work in limited space and reaching other departments on a timely basis.
  • Lifting up to 45 lbs. as needed.
  • Ability to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing, as well as visual acuity.
  • Ability to hear, smell, taste, and use visual observation to distinguish product quality and detect signs of emergency situations.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously while communicating with staff, guests, and supervisors.
  • Vision occurs continuously, including near and color vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to work primarily with fingers for picking, pinching, typing, and carrying out substantial movements of wrists and hands.

Experience

  • Prior hotel experience preferred.

Grooming Standards

  • All staff must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Azul Hospitality standards, following property-specific grooming and uniform standards policies.

Attendance and Scheduling

  • Regular attendance in conformance with Azul Hospitality standards is essential.
  • Irregular attendance or tardiness may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  • All staff must fully comply with Azul Hospitality rules and regulations for safe and effective hotel operations upon employment.
  • Violations of hotel rules and regulations may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  • Schedules may vary due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry.
  • Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
