Responsibilities

  • Clean and prepare guest rooms and public areas to established cleanliness and propriety standards to assure guest satisfaction and maximize revenues. Deliver warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance to guests.
  • Retrieve items from storage, set up cleaning carts with supplies, and maintain carts and storerooms in a clean, orderly fashion to improve efficiency.
  • Clean and wipe windows, doors, walls, closets and fixtures in rooms, public areas and hallways, often using ladders or stools to reach hard to access areas.
  • Wash shower walls and tubs, clean toilets and stalls, wipe exposed pipes, and clean mirrors and sinks to keep restrooms sanitary.
  • Replace towels, soaps and all room amenities, and restock literature that was removed or is soiled to ensure guest supplies are adequate.
  • Wipe and clean hard floor areas by hand to remove dirt and stains.
  • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures and wall hangings; reach vents and ceiling corners to remove dust and cobwebs.
  • Strip beds and remake with fresh linens; check bedspreads and blankets for cleanliness and inspect mattresses for dirt.
  • Check closets for cleanliness, wipe doors and handles, and restock supplies such as hangers, extra blankets and pillows.
  • Vacuum rooms, public areas and hallways, operating vacuums up to 25 lbs and moving heavy furniture to vacuum underneath and in hard to reach spots.
  • Inspect door and window locks to ensure they function properly and report unsecured or unsafe conditions to management.
  • Inspect room equipment (TV, lights, faucets, radios) and report any deficiencies in writing to the Executive Housekeeper for prompt repair.
  • Secure and maintain custody of equipment, keys and supplies to protect hotel property.
  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Assist the laundry department by retrieving soiled linen, sorting by size, operating industrial washers, dryers and pressers, and distributing clean linen to storage areas or carts.
  • Clean patios and balconies by sweeping or hosing floors, wiping furniture, removing garbage, and cleaning doors and windows.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to support overall hotel performance.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or equivalent cleaning standards.
  • Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products and operation of standard cleaning equipment.
  • Vision ability to detect minute debris in poorly lit areas and to read written instructions and computer printouts.
  • Upper body strength to lift up to 50 lbs continually during an 8 hour shift.
  • Dexterity in hands and arms to push, pull and move levers, equipment and furniture throughout an 8 hour shift.
  • Ability to work with arms raised above head for extended periods.
  • Able to maneuver a fully loaded maid cart weighing up to 50 lbs through hallways and in/out of closets all day.
  • Familiarity with basic residential cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaning equipment; cleaning cart; ladder or stepping stool; commercial washers, dryers and pressers.
  • Exposure to hazardous cleaning chemicals on a continual basis.
  • Prolonged strenuous physical activity in an indoor climate controlled environment, with potential exposure to heat and humidity in some areas.
