Housekeeping Houseperson
Job Description
As a Housekeeping Houseperson at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, you will clean and maintain assigned public guest room areas to support an excellent guest experience. This role also contributes to strong public relations through courteous service and dependable housekeeping standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to scheduled shifts in the proper uniform in line with company personal appearance standards.
- Maintain a friendly, positive attitude and support positive guest experiences, including recognizing returning guests.
- Follow all policies and procedures set by the Housekeeping Department.
- Use proper radio etiquette when communicating.
- Respond to, follow, and close HotSOS and other assigned requests using Rexx/radio.
- Support room attendants by emptying trash and removing soiled linen from housekeeping carts.
- Maintain cleanliness in public rest rooms, hotel lobby levels, ashtrays, elevators and tracks, ice machine areas, stairwells, building entrance, and hallways.
- Provide excellent guest relations and handle guests professionally.
- Clean back-of-the-house windows as needed.
- Vacuum guest hallways daily.
- Use appropriate cleaning chemicals as described by department procedures.
- Attend departmental meetings as scheduled.
- Complete all duties in a timely and efficient manner.
- Keep linen closets clean, stocked, and organized.
- Bring trash to the compactor at the end of each day.
- Wash guest room glassware and deliver it to linen closets, and bring dirty glassware back to housekeeping at the end of the shift.
- Perform other duties assigned by management that align with company policies and procedures.
- Promptly notify immediate supervisors of problems or unusual matters of significance.
- Assist with maintaining equipment and work areas in clean, excellent condition.
- Execute emergency procedures according to hotel standards.
- Comply with safety regulations and hotel policies and rules, including uniform and grooming standards.
- Recycle whenever possible and remain current with hotel information and changes.
- Apply teamwork skills consistently and notify the appropriate individual promptly and fully of significant problems or unusual matters.
- Attend appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience is an asset.
- Ability to work as part of a dynamic quality-driven team.
- Basic English language skills.
- Customer-service orientated with excellent hospitality skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend extensively.
- Ability to push, stand, stoop, bend, and lift items up to 150 pounds repetitively during the entire shift.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
