Maintenance Engineer

Rebel Hotel Company is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support the smooth operation of hotel facilities in Del Mar, CA on an onsite basis. In this role, you will help keep guest and back-of-house equipment running reliably through maintenance, repairs, and preventative service, while also responding to work orders as needed.

Role Overview

The Maintenance Engineer assists with the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of hotel equipment and performs preventative maintenance. The position also supports guest requests and other assigned work orders in a safe and efficient manner, including trade work such as carpentry, painting, and plumbing.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of hotel equipment
• Change out light bulbs; complete preventative maintenance for guest rooms, including vinyl repair, touch up paint, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, and tile repairs
• Perform preventative maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guestrooms, meeting rooms, swimming pool, and hot tub
• Handle plumbing repair and laundry equipment repair, perform preventative maintenance on exhaust fans and supply, monitor energy conservation, and repair vacuum cleaners and other small equipment upon request
• Immediately follow up on alarms to determine the exact location and cause, determine emergency status, and report findings to the Front Desk
• Complete other tasks and jobs assigned by the supervisor or manager
• Maintain appropriate access to back of house areas and sensitive information
• Interact with guests and/or colleagues, including occasions with unsupervised contact
• Have access and control to sensitive areas of hotel premises, including the Hotel Safe, Master Keys and/or guestrooms, Storage/Liquor Room, and secured file cabinets
• Drive safely on behalf of the company for business reasons
• Maintain a high level of trust and responsibility
• Represent the company with appropriate reputation, good character, and sound judgment
