Job Description

Hotel Saint Augustine, part of Bunkhouse Hotels, seeks a Night Auditor to uphold the same level of guest service during overnight hours while managing essential accounting tasks. This onsite position in Houston, TX balances front desk duties with nightly financial reporting to ensure a smooth guest experience and precise records. The Night Auditor serves as the overnight contact for guests and staff, supporting operations through late hours and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the shift checklist and bucket check prior to performing the night audit.
  • Generate flawless accounting reports within the Property Management Software.
  • Open, secure and balance shift banks, verifying all cash, credit card and room charge transactions across shifts.
  • Maintain accuracy in all accounting and billing procedures.
  • Ensure each guest is promptly recognized, greeted and assisted during their stay.
  • Review, correct, print and disseminate the nightly audit packs to identified recipients.
  • Check in and out hotel guests in a confident, professional and friendly manner.
  • Follow brand standards to reserve hotel rooms accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure all calls are answered in a courteous, professional and efficient manner.
  • Respond immediately to guest comments and concerns, inform the immediate supervisor and assist in corrective actions as necessary.
  • Log discrepancies or security issues and assist in resolution as needed.
  • Handle guest luggage and tag for storage if necessary.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with employees and guests.
  • Promote and encourage guest name recognition at all times.
  • Maintain knowledge of all guest services and amenities.
  • Adhere to all standards of operations, policies, procedures, manuals, memos and oral instructions.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area.
  • Maintain heightened awareness of safety issues throughout the property.
  • Share accurate information about resort amenities, services, and local attractions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and inviting front desk area.
  • Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures.
  • Attend all relevant meetings.
  • Overnight scheduling, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED). College degree preferred.
  • Six (6) months related experience in the hospitality or service industry with accounting experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or guests.
  • Ability to create documents in Excel and Word.
  • Ability to understand other computer programs, including a Property Management System.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and algebra using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
