Job Description

As the face and voice of a full service boutique hotel, the Night Auditor at Longfellow Hotel plays a key role in creating smooth, welcoming overnights for guests in Portland. This onsite position supports front desk operations, reservations, basic accounting, guest service, and valet parking while helping maintain the level of hospitality the property is known for.

Longfellow Hotel is a 48-room boutique hotel, cafe, and spa, and this role contributes to the culture of the hotel within the Portland business community. The position is well suited to candidates who have Night Audit experience and some front desk daily operation familiarity, with interest in continuing their path in the rooms department of a luxury hotel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete front desk duties, including check-in and check-outs
  • Handle credit card processing properly
  • Assign room numbers as part of daily arrivals and departures
  • Address pre-arrival questions and support guest readiness
  • Manage online and phone reservations
  • Provide guest information about the hotel, including available rooms, rates, and amenities
  • Anticipate guest needs and identify opportunities for the team to exceed expectations for both new and returning visitors
  • Maintain awareness of local happenings that may interest guests, including restaurant menus and hours, entertainment events, and recreation and sporting events, and keep front desk staff updated
  • Perform basic accounting tasks
  • Support guest satisfaction by problem-solving when issues arise, including conflict resolution and sound judgment
  • Support valet parking tasks

What You Bring

  • Night Audit experience preferred, with some knowledge of day-to-day operations
  • Luxury hotel experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work weekends, nights, and some holidays
  • A genuine sense of empathy and care
  • Some hotel accounting skills preferred
  • Ability to work overnight
  • Strong organizational skills

Location: Portland, ME (onsite)  |  Pay: USD 22 - 22 per hour
