Night Auditor
Job Description
Hotel San Jose offers a guest-first overnight role where you help deliver the same level of care and professionalism overnight that Front Desk teams provide during the day. The position is onsite in Austin, TX 78704.
What you will do
- Complete the shift checklist and bucket check before starting the night audit
- Generate accurate accounting reports using the Property Management Software
- Open, secure, and balance shift banks, including verification of cash, credit card, and room charge transactions from all shifts
- Maintain accuracy across all accounting and billing procedures
- Recognize, greet, and assist each guest promptly throughout their stay
- Review, correct, print, and distribute nightly audit packs to the identified recipients
- Check in and check out guests in a confident, professional, and friendly manner
- Follow brand standards to make reservations accurately and efficiently
- Maintain knowledge of local restaurants, special events, city attractions, amenities, and directions that may affect occupancy, rates, and availability
- Answer all calls in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner
- Maintain an accurate log of guest calls for assistance or complaints, and ensure follow-up of all items
- Respond immediately to guest comments and concerns, inform the immediate supervisor, and assist with corrective measures as needed
- Log any discrepancies or security issues and support resolution efforts
- Ensure all equipment is kept in good, safe working condition
- Handle luggage and provide tagging for storage when necessary
- Support positive relationships with employees and guests, including promoting guest name recognition
- Stay current on guest services and amenities, and adhere to all operational standards, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, and oral instructions
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in your work area, with increased awareness of safety issues across the property
- Keep abreast of safety and OSHA requirements and know all safety and emergency procedures
- Attend all relevant meetings
What we’re looking for
- High School diploma or GED (a college degree is preferred)
- Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service, with accounting experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to speak effectively with groups of employees or guests
- Ability to create documents in Excel and Word
- Comfort with computer programs including a Property Management System
- Ability to apply basic math concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebra with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
