Part Time Houseperson
Job Description
Merete Hotel Management is seeking a part-time Houseperson to support day-to-day guest comfort at a property in Rochester, WA. In this onsite role, you will assist with guest services by maintaining cleanliness in public spaces and helping the Front Desk and Housekeeping team respond to ongoing needs.
You will keep hallways, restrooms, meeting rooms, and other common areas in excellent condition while staying attentive to safety, cleanliness standards, and guest-request communication. The position is designed for someone who can manage physical tasks reliably, maintain punctual attendance, and support a respectful, teamwork-focused work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and vacuum hallways and public areas.
- Stock linen closets with clean linen.
- Retrieve soiled linen from housekeeping carts and empty trash on carts.
- Report all maintenance and repair needs.
- Report all damage, vandalism, and missing hotel property.
- Communicate with a supervisor all guest requests and problems.
- Deliver guests special items such as baby cribs, rollaway beds, microwaves, and refrigerators.
- Move furniture and assist with rotating mattresses.
- Set up and tear down meeting rooms.
- Report all unsafe conditions immediately.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the manager.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance and punctuality as essential functions of the position.
- Treat others with respect at all times and behave in a positive, productive manner that promotes teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- Physically able to perform cleaning duties.
- Lift and carry an average weight of 30 lbs frequently; maximum weight frequently 50 lbs.
- Stand and walk up to two miles per day on cement, tile, asphalt, and carpet.
- Reach and use overhead extension to pull items down.
- Push and pull an average weight of 50 lbs frequently; maximum weight frequently 150 lbs.
- Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, stooping, and twisting.
- Work with and be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, dust, and noise.
- Adhere to the Hotel’s safety standards and procedures, including hearing, eye, and hand protection for equipment operation.
- Effectively manage time.
- Communicate with guests as well as team members.
- Adjust to schedule changes and cover shifts on short notice.
- Work a variety of hours and shifts.
- Follow applicable policies and procedures while striving to improve operational standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and meet or exceed productivity standards set by the Manager.
- Provide excellent customer service skills.
- Pass a criminal background check.
