The Room Attendant role at Sheraton Universal Hotel provides essential housekeeping support to maintain clean, well-equipped guest rooms and suites on site in Universal City, California.
Summary
The Room Attendant ensures rooms are cleaned and serviced to established standards, with duties including bed making, bathroom cleaning, amenities replenishment, reporting repairs, and coordinating with other departments to support guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning and service of assigned rooms per established procedures: make beds, dust surfaces, vacuum floors, sanitize bathrooms, and remove trash. May include cleaning in-room appliances and fixtures such as refrigerators, coffee makers, cups, glasses, trays, lamps, and decorative items.
- Notify supervisor upon completion so rooms can be sold or occupied; report any rooms unable to be serviced according to established procedures.
- Report to supervisor any needed repairs or unsafe conditions.
- Address guest complaints and special requests promptly and ensure corrective actions are taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and control supplies and amenities, and minimize waste across all housekeeping areas.
- Log and return all lost and found items according to established procedures.
- Promote teamwork and high service quality through daily communication and coordination with other hotel departments.
- May regularly participate in deep cleaning projects.
- May perform turndown duties and assist with other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or one year of previous experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, assignments, and maintenance instructions.
- Proficiency in English communication at all levels.
- Basic arithmetic ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
- Capability to handle problems and situations that may arise while cleaning rooms.
- Flexibility to switch between activities frequently and smoothly.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, frequent use of hands, talking or hearing, and bending, kneeling, stooping, and squatting.
- Occasional ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, and depth perception; color and peripheral vision.
- Potential exposure to OSHA-approved cleaning chemicals.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
