Job Description

Hotel Drover offers an onsite leadership opportunity in Fort Worth, where you will oversee general accounting across all entities, guide month-end close, and mentor a dedicated team through complex transactions. This role emphasizes strong internal controls, process optimization, and collaboration with auditors to support profitability and risk management. Located in Fort Worth, with a focus on hotel operations, this position invites someone who can pair technical rigor with a collaborative, growth-minded culture. A bachelor’s degree and at least five years of progressive accounting experience are required, with supervisory experience as a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general accounting work for all entities and manage the monthly close process
  • Coordinate processes and direct accounting staff to ensure timely, accurate reporting, reconciliations, and analysis
  • Prepare, review, and approve complex journal entries and reconciliations with full source documentation
  • Assess risks in balance sheet accounts and uphold reconciliation policies
  • Review corporate credit card purchases monthly to confirm correct GL coding and necessary accruals
  • Own sales and use tax filings and stay current with SALT policy regulations
  • Lead complex accounting projects, drive continuous improvements, and implement automation to shorten cycle times
  • Help establish and document policies and procedures to strengthen controls, protect assets, improve operations and profitability, and manage risk
  • Provide tools and metrics for the accounting team to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness
  • Compile schedules for external auditors and guide staff in gathering audit support
  • Deliver operational, regulatory, and ad hoc reports as needed
  • Foster a proactive, responsive department by scheduling, evaluating, training, and developing team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • At least 2+ years in accounting or finance supervisory roles with a track record of mentoring staff
  • Solid technical accounting knowledge including US GAAP
  • On property, multi-property, or shared service hotel experience is a plus
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software; experience with XLOOKUP and Pivot Tables
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with financial and hotel software applications such as M3, Birchstreet, ProfitSword

Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office-based with extended periods of sitting and computer use
  • Ability to review detailed financial data and reports with strong visual focus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of all accounting areas including AP, AR, Cash, General Ledger, and P&L preparation and analysis
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education or experience; accounting or hospitality focus preferred
  • Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvements and automation in business processes
