What You’ll Do
The Assistant Director of Hospitality Accounting manages key financial tasks that support the hotel and broader ownership entities. In this onsite role in Houston, TX, you will help keep reporting accurate by handling reconciliations, journal entries, and statement preparation, while also assisting with analysis and special projects as needed.
- Complete bank account reconciliations and assigned balance sheet reconciliations timely and accurately.
- Prepare financial journal entries and financial statements as assigned.
- Deliver special projects timely and accurately as directed.
- Build working knowledge of assigned accounting functions to cover duties during turnover, absence, or vacation at assigned properties.
- Support the Director of Hospitality Accounting with ensuring compliance related to regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of operational taxes.
- Assist management in enforcing compliance across the above requirements.
- Help ensure daily critical operational procedures are completed, including credit card reconciliation and transmission, daily deposits, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, hotel assets, master keys, payroll, records retention, and employee records.
- Continuously focus on training and development for accounting colleagues.
- Attend meetings and training as required by management.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
What You Bring
- 6+ years of progressive experience in hotel accounting or a related field.
- A 4-year college degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Previous Luxury or Forbes experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and leadership.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while supervising and developing accounting staff in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Proficiency with accounting systems.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds on a regular basis and stand for prolonged periods.
