Job Details
- Location: Charlottesville, VA (onsite)
- Employment type: Part time, on-call
- Compensation: USD 8.00 per hour
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in food service
Responsibilities
- Prepare function spaces for events by draping tables, laying out silverware, folding napkins, stocking drinks, and placing centerpieces
- Serve and deliver meals by picking up food from the back hall, transporting trays to the function area, serving courses, and clearing dishes
- Assist with post event breakdown, including bussing tables, storing dirty linens and centerpieces, and vacuuming
- Maintain back hall cleanliness and organize storerooms
- Set up break stations for morning or afternoon periods with coffee, tea, snacks, and beverages
- Support event room setup according to meal period and table needs
- Contribute to food and beverage prep, including condiments, brewing coffee, and stocking workstations
- Serve food and beverages to guests and remove dishes from tables to the kitchen
- Clean and sanitize tables, counters, and seating areas after guests depart
- Explain menu items, preparation methods, and ingredients to guests
- Consider guest dietary requests and special needs when assisting services
- Provide general information about the property to guests
- Offer a warm and courteous welcome and farewell to all guests
- Interact with colleagues professionally and assist other departments as needed
- Conduct a final quality check on food and beverage items prior to service
- Monitor assigned tables for guest satisfaction and service quality, anticipating needs
- Address guest concerns promptly and with a high level of care
- Support fellow event and restaurant staff as required
- Maintain awareness of safety issues such as broken glass, frayed cords, leaks, broken locks, and suspicious persons
Requirements
- 2-4 years of food service experience, preferably in Banquet service
- Experience in a luxury venue (4-star or 5-star) with synchronized service
- Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience
- Excellent communication skills
