Job Description

The Bus person role supports smooth restaurant operations by delivering responsive guest service and keeping service areas ready for each dining shift. This position is onsite in East Chicago, IN, and works closely with restaurant hosts and servers to maintain cleanliness, supplies, and equipment.

Service and Guest Support

Provide fast, friendly, professional, and responsive customer service to restaurant guests, food servers, and the restaurant host. Address service needs in line with established guidelines and support a positive dining experience through day-to-day responsiveness.

Dining Room Setup and Reset

Maintain service stations by keeping appropriate par levels of operating supplies, including china, flatware, glassware, utensils, condiments, and paper supplies. Obtain replacement stock according to procedure to ensure stations are prepared for each service.

Remove dirty dishes, soiled linen, glassware, and flatware from table and counter areas and transport items to designated locations. Wipe tables and seats as needed, then reset tables using silverware, linen, napkins, and glassware based on established restaurant table top specifications.

Assistance to Servers

Assist servers with required tasks, including refilling water glasses and coffee cups, helping serve food orders, and attending to guest needs as directed.

Cleaning, Safety, and Equipment Care

Wipe counter areas, sinks, and floors as required to maintain a clean and safe work station. Keep designated areas clean and maintain health and safety standards as established.

Support deeper cleaning needs by deep cleaning restaurant equipment such as coffee machines, soda and juice dispensers, and ice bins, along with service stations and refrigerators, on scheduled timelines or when required. Maintain equipment as needed in accordance with established guidelines and safety procedures.

Remove and properly dispose of all refuse and debris accumulated in the restaurant and service stations according to departmental procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Prior customer service experience in a fast-paced environment preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and speak English.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Availability to work required schedule, which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
