Cage Cashier
Job Description
L' Auberge Casino Hotel Baton Rouge is seeking a Cage Cashier to support day-to-day guest service while managing currency and other financial transactions onsite in Baton Rouge, LA. In this role, you will handle cash operations, support credit-related telephone functions, and help ensure every guest interaction is delivered with care and professionalism.
What you’ll do
- Provide internal and external guest service while following the hotel’s Six Core Service Standards: Look Sharp, smile & greet the guest; be friendly, polite, and use courteous language; deliver especially timely and knowledgeable service; solve guests’ problems; use the guest’s name when appropriate; and thank the guest with an invitation to return.
- Respond to guest needs and accurately process guests’ monetary transactions, including the resilience to work through difficult customer situations.
- Cash and exchange currency, checks, money orders, cashier checks, coins, tokens, or gaming chips for customers and employees.
- Handle large amounts of money by accounting for total funds received during the day and at the end of each day, maintaining accountability for the cashier drawer.
- Complete telephone functions to and from central credit, other casinos, and other departments within L’Auberge Casino.
- Open check-cashing cards, which requires making credit inquiries.
- Serve high limit customers with prompt, courteous, and friendly service.
- Perform all duties in a confidential manner.
What you’ll need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of prior work experience
- Obtain and maintain a valid state gaming license
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Excel, Access, and Word
- Previous money handling experience is preferred
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them in practical situations
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to respond to common guest inquiries or complaints
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and manuals
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from guests
- Awareness of work environment requirements: smoking environment in guest areas and a non-smoking environment for employees except designated areas
- Physical mobility with reasonable accommodations, including ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 25 lbs., and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance across varying work areas including confined spaces
