What you will do
The Facilities Tech (Maintenance 1) helps maintain the overall operation of the maintenance department while supporting the hotel’s appearance and working order. The position includes administration of maintenance and life safety programs, upkeep of equipment and systems, handling maintenance request orders, and supervising contractors when needed.
- Deliver customer satisfaction by modeling and following the Guest Service Standards at all times
- Support a clean and safe environment by complying with company, state, local, and federal policies and guidelines related to maintenance
- Maintain proper operation of hotel equipment and systems including life safety, telecommunications, key control, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, pool, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, and other related systems
- Handle maintenance request orders in a prompt and courteous manner, including logging and follow-up
- Provide regular communication to the Assistant General Manager, OM, and/or General Manager regarding the building structure(s) and related systems
- Supervise external contractors engaged by the hotel to perform maintenance work
- Follow all work rules, procedures, and company policies established for the role
What you bring
- Education: High School diploma / Secondary qualification or equivalent
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
- Ability to read and write to support communication, paperwork, and logging
- Comfort working in a team environment with no direct supervision for most tasks
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Basic computational ability and basic computer skills
- Preferred: Knowledge of mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, water softeners, and refrigeration equipment
- Preferred: Plumbing and electrical systems knowledge, including maintaining records of power, water, and fuel consumption
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws for equal employment opportunity, civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations, including Title VII, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, and NLRA (and comparable state/local laws where applicable)
