Job Description

Earn from $16.00 per hour and be the welcoming presence guests remember during their stay. In this on-site role at Radisson Hotel Grand Rapids Riverfront in Grand Rapids, MI, you will represent the hotel at the front desk by coordinating guest services and helping deliver superior customer care from arrival through departure.

What you’ll do

  • Maintain an accurate view of vacancies, reservations, and room assignments.
  • Use working knowledge of the reservations department to handle same-day reservations and future bookings as needed, including awareness of cancellation procedures.
  • Know room locations, room types available, and room rates, then apply persuasive selling techniques to book rooms and promote other hotel services.
  • Register arriving guests, assign rooms, and keep room information current.
  • Coordinate room status updates with housekeeping by notifying housekeeping of all check-outs, late check-outs, early check-ins, special requests, and part-day rooms.
  • Coordinate guest room maintenance work with the engineering and maintenance division.
  • Stay informed on daily activities and meetings taking place in the hotel.
  • Report unusual occurrences or guest requests to the manager or assistant manager.
  • Manage and resolve guest complaints professionally and courteously.
  • Process guest check-outs and handle monetary transactions while following front desk procedures.
  • Maintain customers’ privacy and a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous hotel-related experience preferred (choiceAdvantage 1 year preferred; hotel 1 year preferred).
  • Ability to communicate professionally with the public, hotel staff, and management.
  • Knowledge of surrounding areas and local events.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to proper credit, check cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures, and to properly secure guest information.
  • Ability to learn safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies and procedures.
  • Skilled use of front office equipment.
  • Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
