Host/Hostess

Best Western Escondido Hotel seeks a part-time Host/Hostess to support the breakfast service on site in Escondido, California. The role focuses on preparing and serving the complimentary breakfast while upholding food safety and guest service standards. Shifts run Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM, totaling about 12 hours per week. Compensation is $17 per hour plus tips.

Responsibilities

• Be punctual and ready to work in a clean uniform with a name badge.
• Prepare and arrange hot and cold breakfast items and beverages following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Monitor stock and refresh items during service to keep offerings stocked and at safe temperatures.
• Provide a welcoming greeting to guests and assist as needed.
• Maintain an appealing and orderly breakfast presentation throughout service.
• Clear and sanitize tables continually during breakfast service.
• Vacuum and clean the dining area after breakfast service concludes.
• Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, equipment, refrigerators, freezers, and adjacent workspaces.
• Store food properly and manage waste, including taking trash to the dumpster as required.
• Identify opportunities to enhance the guest breakfast experience while minimizing waste.
• Comply with all company policies, food safety regulations, and health standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Previous customer service experience is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests and coworkers.
• Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light to moderate lifting.
• Valid California Food Handler Card or the ability to obtain one as required by law.

Location and Schedule

Location: Escondido, California (onsite).

Schedule: Mondays and Tuesdays, 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM (approximately 12 hours per week).

Experience

Experience: Restaurant experience preferred, minimum 1 year.
